About Me

Hello, Everyone!

I'M Wildlife Artist, Eva Stanley

Hello and welcome!  I am so glad you have chosen to spend some of your day getting to know my work, and I'm pleased to be able to share my passion for wildlife with you today!  If you have come this far into my website, then we probably have many things in common - a deeper connection to the natural world, utter amazement at its diversity, and a deep-rooted love of animals and their often touching and comical behaviors.  My inspiration for each unique piece comes directly from my wildlife experiences during travel and life across North America.  I hope you enjoy your time with me today!

(If you are interested in knowing more about my background, please see my Artist Statement  and Art Bio .)

My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.

Inspiration

My art inspirations come from Nature, herself.  It is hard to be outside without finding something to marvel at, even in my own backyard.  Whether it's color or form, texture or size - for me the natural world is a constant wonder.  Doing most of my own research photography, I am often found behind my Canon's long lens, happily shooting some of what others would probably find the most bizarre wildlife photographs.  I have friends who are professional magazine and book photographers - always after "the perfect shot".  But for me as a sculptor, there is no such thing as "the perfect shot!"  Yes, I love a great angle, perfect or intriguing light, but I also need the top of the crane's head, the bottom of the cheetah's feet, the rear end of the rhino as he trots away.  All of these perhaps "less-than-beautiful" shots are all extremely valuable reference information for realistic sculpture!  See, I am easy to please!!

Techniques

Painting - I do cross over occasionally into some 2-dimensional mixed media, but for the most part, my original paintings are created in Acrylics, and my Scratchboards are created in ink on Ampersand Claybord.

Bronze sculpture - Bronze is a very intensive and involved process- from its initial conception and engineering to a finished bronze - much too difficult to describe in just a few words.  Before I started sculpting, it was a total mystery to me!  If you are interested in how bronze sculpture is created, I cordially invite you to sign up for my newsletters and to check in on my website's blog periodically where I will share lots of illustrative photos, talk about what is new in the studio, and show you all the facets of just how I transform a bumpy lump of foam and pipes to a realistic piece of bronze wildlife sculpture!  So, come back soon!  And remember, your comments and thoughts are always welcome~
